Ralph T. Faber -President and Chief Executive Officer
Prior to his leadership at VPT Mr. Faber was President and CEO of NetOptix Co., a publicly traded company manufacturing thin-film telecommunication filters and photonics components, that was sold to Corning Inc. Mr. Faber served as Vice President and General Manager of Corning’s Photonics Components business. In addition, he was with Balzers & Leybold and its predecessors and affiliates for 11 years.
Mr. Faber is a director with several technology companies and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Children’s Hospital Boston Trust. He is currently a member of the advisory board of the College of Engineering at Boston University, the MIT Venture Mentoring Society and several non-profit organizations in the Boston area.
David Quimby -Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining VPT in January 2012, Mr. Quimby held a number of senior finance role which includes in a number of both Fortune 500 and smaller firms. For the pass 25 years Mr. Quimby has worked for Texas Instruments, BankBoston/FleetBoston, Corning, and Northrop Grumman. Most recently, he was Director of Financial Planning for Powerwave Technologies, a wireless equipment manufacture.
He began his career in the US Army, serving eight years and achieving the rank of Captain. He is a 1978 graduate of the US Military Academy, West Point, NY with a BS degree and has an MBA from Babson College, Wellesley, MA.
Ronald A. Crocker -Vice President of Technology
Prior to this position Mr. Crocker performed engineering, sales and project management functions at VPT. Mr. Crocker has held positions in engineering, engineering management, sales and project management for the past 30 years in the vacuum equipment business with vacuum system equipment suppliers. He has designed equipment for most of the major aircraft companies, NASA and other government organizations as well as most all the leading industrial users of vacuum systems. He received a BSME from Northeastern University and stays involved in engineering both on and off the job.
Keqi Zhang – Chief Technology Officer
Prior to joining VPT in April 2010, Dr. Zhang was Manager for IAD and IBS Process and Technology at Barr Associates, in charge of ion beam assisted deposition and ion beam sputtering related process development and coating production. Previous to that, Dr. Zhang held the position of Director of R&D at Corning NetOptix, responsible for development of thin film based fiber optic filters and components. Dr. Zhang also held roles and leadership positions in research and development at Tufts University, and Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics. Dr. Zhang has over twenty years experience in thin film related deposition technologies including thermal evaporation, plasma assisted deposition, ion beam sputtering, DC and RF sputtering. He has extensive industrial and academic experience in thin films in photonics, semiconductor, and photovoltaics applications.
Dr Zhang received a B.S. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University and an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Electro-Optics from Chinese Academy of Sciences.
